ABSTRACT The following investigation was intended to analyze the material from the quarry The Hawk order to determine the influence of compaction energy with respect to the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. For the development of research rehearsals we were performed to classify the soil by AASHTO system (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), with assay results grading method C type compaction Modified Proctor was determined to compact the floor in the modified Proctor compaction energy was varied, starting with 56 blows, established in the technical standard, up to 61 strokes per layer by this variation of one stroke for each layer in each of the tests performed by layer. It was determined that the granular material requires more energy compaction for maximum dry density and optimum moisture content relative to that mentioned by the technical ASTM D-1557, determining a variation of 0.97 kg/cm in energy compaction . It is concluded that the maximum dry density obtained was 2.18 g/cm and the optimum moisture content of 3.5%, is obtained with 28.24 kg/cm2 energy corresponding to 58 strokes per layer compaction.
