The environmental topic in our country, currently has gained much strength, with the mining sector where major advances have been made. Cases of stopping of millionaire projects (Minas Conga in 2012, for example) are known for social issues which based their claims and opposition to mining activities, on environmental pollution issues. On the other hand, the fall in the price of metals worldwide has led mining companies to find ways to optimize their production costs to be competitive. In this sense, the present investment project aims to create new environmental consulting services using the Lean Six Sigma methodology, applied to the reduction of the environmental impact caused by mining operations in the Cajamarca region. The idea is to evaluate in detail the environmental impacts identified in the different stages of the mining projects, applying the Lean Six Sigma methodologies, such as: value stream mapping, deadly waste identification, improvement opportunities. These steps would be applied initially, always focused on obtaining environmental benefits, reducing cost and/or time. The proposed service approach aims to capture the customer’s attention regarding the environmental benefits that would be obtained, presenting at the same time the economic benefits that the application of the improvement opportunities identified in the initial stage would bring.
