The urban growth of metropolitan cities, added to the lack of effective actions by the State and environmental education in the population are factors in why rivers do not receive adequate treatment. The objective of this work is to evaluate the physical, chemical, biological quality and trophic level of the Pinheiros River (São Paulo-Brazil) in 2016 in order to compare the results obtained with the water values of class 3 of resolution 356/2005 of the National Environment Council (Brazil). For the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the water quality of the Pinheiros River, the data collected by the CETESB from 2016 at the points: PINH04100 (Pedreira Pumping Plant), PINH04250 (Puente del Socorro), PINH04500 (Av. Bandeirantes - Puente Ari Torres) and PINH04900 (River’s Outfall of the Tietê). A Transectional Descriptive Non-Experimental Research was developed. As a result, some elements were within the acceptable limits for class III water, but those that exceeded the limits were copper, phenol, toluene, zinc, BOD, thermotolerant coliforms and vibrio fischeri. Furthermore, we detected the trophic status index as supereutrophic and hypereutrophic, revealing a clear alteration in the waters of the Pinheiros River.
