Background: A normal nutritional state implies having healthy eating habits that allow you to maintain well-being and prevent conditions such as cardiovascular and metabolic problems, among others. Objective: To determine the relationship between nutritional status and eating habits in first grade high school students of the Educational Institution "Nuestra Señora de Lourdes 2078" Los Olivos, December, 2020. Methods and Materials: quantitative-correlational approach, 90 schoolchildren from the educational institution participated. The nutritional status was measured through the body mass index (BMI), the eating habits were evaluated through a questionnaire prepared by the authors, and the validation was through an expert judgment and pilot test, resulting in a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.751. The data obtained were entered into an Excel sheet and coded, presented in tables with descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage. Chi square test was used for statistical analysis. Results: It was found that 58.9% of the schoolchildren present normal nutritional status, 22.2% overweight, 15.6% underweight and 3.3% obese, in terms of eating habits most of them were adequate 86.7%. Conclusion: A directly proportional relationship was found between the nutritional status and eating habits of schoolchildren with p = 0.000.
