The small-size companies and microenterprise development entities, also known as Entidades de Desarrollo de la Pequeña y Microempresa (EDPYMES), are private microfinance institutions that started operations in 1994. The Edpymes are subject to the regulation by the Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP (SBS); and are authorized to provide financing related to the development of microenterprises and small-size companies (MYPES). Nowadays, the EDPYMES suffer from a weak competitive position, evidenced by their least share in the Peruvian microfinance market, the fall in their financial indicators, and the change of the development of the MYPES, to consumer loans. This Strategic Plan provides the most relevant strategies to reverse the delicate situation that the EDPYMES are facing, with a projection for its implementation of 10 years. The proposed vision is "to be in 2027, the most recognized system in Latin America, for its high capacity to generate value for its shareholders and for representing the best option of financial entrepreneurship aimed at small and microentrepreneurs." To achieve this desired positive situation, three long-term objectives were formulated, based on eight retained strategies and twelve short-term objectives. The strategic plan formulated is based on the application of ICTs and investment in R&D for the generation of operational efficiencies and improvement of risk management; The development of the productive capacities of the MYPES through the inclusion of clústers of high national potential and the generation of a financial culture, which will conclude with the financial and competitive strengthening of the EDPYMES, and simultaneously will contribute in the development of the Peruvian economy, as a source of employment through the promotion of microenterprises and small-size companies
