This research presents the implementation of a modeling process of the sine functions that is developed by means of a Study and Research Course (SRC) within the framework of the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD). The design of the SRC starts from a questioning of the world, within a user institution contemplated as the Engineering of Structures, analyzing how the structure of a building reacts against an earthquake. The course to answer this question links the fields of physics and mathematics, addresses the reaction of the structure of the building as a pendulum corresponding to a Simple Harmonic Movement (SHM), which when described mathematically provides a rationale to the sine function, since the SHM is articulated as the projection of a Uniform Circular Movement (UCM), together with previous mathematical organizations related to the trigonometric sine. Thus in this experience from the perspective of the ATD, the development of a device corresponding to the paradigm of research and questioning the world is analyzed, within a school institution where the paradigm of the monumentalization of knowledge still prevails. When evidencing the presence of didactic gestures expressed as dialectics and the construction of praxeologies, a favorable consideration of the SRC made is granted.
