Companies that incorporate or develop best practices have a competitive advantage over others. Within the manufacturing management, companies are considering lean manufacturing (LM) methodology, for its tools and techniques, as a good practice to respond to the current demands of the market, delivering products that completely satisfy their customers and consumers. For this reason, the present investigation aims to identify best practices in manufacturing management using this methodology in consumer goods companies of food in Peru. The research was conducted under a qualitative approach, having interviews based on LM dimensions previously reviewed in the literature, leading manufacturing companies in consumer goods, local and transnational. These companies have been selected by having presence in the local market with current products over the years and for being leaders in their respective categories. To do this, best practices were identified by dimension in each company, as well as the level of maturity in each of these dimensions and, the information and data obtained were analyzed to answer the questions raised in the investigation. The results of this research showed that through the implementation of practices and tools of LM, which are tropicalized in most cases, companies seek to be more competitive and achieve LM to be established rather than a methodology as part of the organizational culture, which consider developing people as an essential basis for all implementation and achieve through a continuous improvement approach, obtain excellence in manufacturing, establish the importance of quality from the beginning, statistical process control to measure the variability in the manufacturing, the cost control of the defective products, as well as the management of improvement in their processes, which were some of the practices identified within the investigation.
