Rimac Seguros is the leading insurer in the Peruvian market, with more than 120 years offering life, health, car and general risk insurance, both for companies and regular customers. Rimac's vision is to be a socially responsible, customer-centric and world-class company, so its management not only cares about its financial growth, but also its development as a sustainable company. To this end, the company has been working on various initiatives that help reduce its carbon dioxide emissions to the environment, which are measured annually through carbon footprint. However, the Sustainability team continues to struggle on reducing pollution generated by the daily transport of employees to their work centres. The aim of the consultancy was to identify the root cause of the problem in the behavior of these employees, so that a plan can be proposed that will help motivate a change in their means of transport by one that does not emit carbon dioxide, such as bicycles, scooters or walking. To this end, an analysis was carried out, using a behaviour design technique, and it was found that the main problem lies in the high perception of insecurity that exists towards the use of such means of transport, especially because of the lack of safe routes or the poor condition in which they are located. Based on this diagnosis, a plan is proposed with 10 initiatives focused on increasing the perception of safety towards the use of sustainable means of transport. The implementation of this plan would help to increase by 50% the number of employees who would use sustainable mobility, thus achieving the goal of carbon dioxide reduction, as well as generating other benefits such as reducing the stress perceived by employees due to the time spent in Lima’s traffic, and improving the positioning of the brand by being associated as an eco-friendly brand, both to customers and their collaborators.
