Nowadays, the United States represents the main international destination for Peruvian emigrants and it is estimated that between 1990 and 2015, nearly 960,967 Peruvians decided to immigrate permanently to this country in search of both, a better future and a better life. To date, there are no previous researches that allow identifying if Peruvian immigrants considered that their subjective well-being improved after immigrating to that country, what goals, resources and values are priorities in their subjective well-being; what factors influenced their decision to immigrate; and what are the trade-offs in their subjective well-being. For these reasons, the main objective of this research is to identify the categories present in the components’ goals, resources and values of the subjective well-being of Peruvian emigrants to the United States. This is carried out through a qualitative research, considering a descriptive scope, by means of a case study of 40 Peruvian emigrants to the United States who have at least two years of legal permanent residence, with the application of an interview guide and the development of semi-structured interviews. The results of this research allowed identifying a group of Peruvian emigrants who are optimistic towards the future and motivated to accomplish their goals, characterized by the values of perseverance and integrity, for whom family-union and family-support, as well as the financial peace of mind constitute priority life goals in their subjective well-being. In relation to resources, most of the interviewees considered that education and parenting at home as well as the support of family and friends constitute the main priority for achieving these goals. It was identified that the universal needs of affiliation, autonomy and competence underlie the goals identified in this research and that most of the interviewees experience greater subjective well-being in the United States.
