This research focuses on the operational strategic analysis of the German offensive against the Soviet Union during World War II. It covers the period from the beginning of Operation Barbarossa on June 22, 1941, until the conclusion of the Battle of Stalingrad in February 1943. Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive historical documentary design, the method of operational strategic analysis is employed to identify the most relevant operational strategic aspects. The findings include the political goal and desired end state, the military objective, the operational commander's intent, and the campaign concept, the center of gravity and critical factors, lines of operation and decisive points. Additionally, it assesses how the military forces of the nations in conflict complied with the principles of war, their strategic posture, the stratagems employed, incentives and constraints, situations of fog and friction, as well as circumstantial elements in operational design. The study concludes with an examination of the determining factors for victories and defeats during military operations.
