The present investigation had as a general objective to determine the most suitable type of maritime surveillance air unit to carry out the surveillance of the Peruvian maritime domain evaluated between rotary-wing and hybrid drones and the naval aircraft units of the Peruvian Navy. The present investigation was based on the Naval Operations Analysis Theory, the research approach was quantitative, and the design was operational, evaluative, and comparative. On the other hand, the techniques used to collect the information were the quantitative documentary analysis and the bibliographic record. For the processing of the information, probabilistic and deterministic calculations were used to determine the suspicions of detection in the systematic search, as well as the effectiveness, efficiency, and level of precision in the different tactical scenarios, the results were obtained using the use of AUTOCAD software and Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheets. The investigation concluded that the most convenient type of maritime surveillance air unit to carry out surveillance of the Peruvian maritime domain evaluated between rotary-wing and hybrid drones and the aircraft units of the Peruvian Navy extension of the luminous area to be guarded will depend on the distance from the coast or from the surface platform that carries it, the determined tactical situation, the day or night detection conditions and the radar cross-section of the contacts of interest to be detected.
