The general objectives of this investigation were to determine the effect of the application of a neuroscience-based teaching program on learning, with focus on its quality, of the Fluid Mechanics I course in the students of the Civil Engineering career of a public university in Lima, and, based on the results, to propose an improvement plan. Three dimensions were used for the learning quality variable: 1) authentic problem solving, 2) activation, and 3) integration, which correspond to three of the five principles of instruction by Merrill (2007). The research is of an explanatory or causal hypothesis testing level, it is applied and technological, and its design is quasi-experimental. A translation and adaptation of the TALQ instrument developed by Frick, Chadha, Watson and Zlatkosva in 2010 was used. The evaluation scale is Likert-type from 1 to 5. The designed and applied neuroscience-based teaching program uses strategies that activate executive functions, attention, memory, emotions and motivation. The research used two samples: the experimental one received the program and was composed of 23 students, and the control sample did not receive the program and was composed of 25 students. Since the general hypothesis was rejected, that is, no difference was observed in the medians between the control and experimental groups or between the situation before receiving the program and after receiving it, an Improvement Plan was proposed for the teaching program developed.
