The research was designed with the purpose of answering an academic question and at the same time with the purpose of giving an opinion on the possibility of applying a method of teaching English as a second language in the sixth level of regular basic education, using postulates of the pedagogical current of constructivism. To develop this work, the deductive-inductive method was used in order to identify the fundamentals of constructivism that best applied in a second language classroom. The research work, although purely theoretical, permitted to identify the reliability of the postulate and has also clarified some concepts about the possibility of using tools, material and principles of the method to allow students to broaden their cultural horizons while learning a second language, in this case, English. Consequently, there are similarities that exist between the theories of investigators of the topic, probably because the subjects of knowledge were students that although distant in time and space could share the same capacities for learning. In addition, the constructivism is useful in both national and international education furthermore it is a possible alternative of meaningful learning and therefore applicable in the system of regular basic schools in Peru.
