The present research work aims to demonstrate the relationship between Selective Attention and the Reading Processes, considering a population of 77 third grade students from a school in the district of Santa Anita, in Lima, Peru. Regarding the reliability of d2, Attention Test, a coefficient of 0.837 was obtained, showing a high reliability; meanwhile, the data obtained for the PROLEC – R (0.760) shows an acceptable reliability, both tests got construct validity, for the sample population. The results obtained, confirmed the existence of a significant correlation between the Selective Attention, both with the perceptive processes and with the lexical processes; but not with the syntactic and semantic processes, so it is inferred that there are other variables that allow complementing the integral explanation of the reading processes, which deserve further investigation. In general terms, it is concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between reading processes and selective attention in the subjects of this research.
