The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between parental behaviors and vocational maturity in Fifth-year high school students from private educational institutions in Lima. The research is quantitative, descriptive, basic and correlational. The sample consisted of 83 students of both sexes, between 15 and 18 years old. To achieve this aim two questionnaires were applied: Perceived parental behaviors related to the profession by Dietrich and Kracke (2009) and; Vocational maturity by Busot (1995), adapted by Rosa (2015). The research formulated a general hypothesis and 3 sub hypotheses. A sub hypothesis was verified: there is a relationship between parental behaviors and vocational maturity in fifth grade students, according to sex; a hypothesis was partially verified: in vocational maturity, the career information dimension is the most predominant, while the realistic orientation dimension is the least predominant in Fifth grade students; and a sub hypothesis was not verified: in parental behaviors, interference behavior is the most predominant in Fifth grade students. The general hypothesis was verified: there is a relationship between parental behaviors and vocational maturity, according to sex, in Fifth-grade students from private educational institutions.
