In this research, we sought to determine the relationship between the fear of missing out and addiction to social networks in university students. To do this, a sample of 77 university students was carried out, aged between 18 and 36years, of which 44 were women and 33 men. Through an online questionnaire, both social media addiction and fear of missing out (FOMO) were assessed. The correlation analysis revealed that the fear of missing out is directly related to the dimensions of social media addiction. Likewise, the results showed that there are differences between the age groups, detailing that the youngest students had a greater fear of missing out on something compared to the older ones, however, there were no differences in addiction to social networks depending on age. Finally, no significant differences were found regarding gender.
