The objective of the research was to determine the influence of the intake of the functional components of pomegranate juice from the Pachacamac Valley on the blood lipid levels of albino rats. The sample consisted of 21 rats of 11 weeks of age of Rattus rattus species, Holtzman strain, grouped into three groups of 7 rats: control and experimental 3ml and 6ml. An experimental design of pretest, posttest and control group was used The juice, made from ripe pomegranate, contains among other functional components; Total phenols ( 2292.95 ± 5.76 𝑚𝑔𝑙−1 𝑎𝑐.𝐺𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑐 GAE); Total anthocyanin(236.03 ± 0.02 𝑚𝑔𝑙−1𝐶𝑦𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑑𝑖𝑛−3−𝑔𝑙𝑢𝑐ó𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒) and Total tannins(1084.23 ± 0.15 𝑔𝑙−1 𝑎𝑐.Tanico TAE ) 3ml, 6ml days does not have a positive effect on the reduction of total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels, but the intake of 6ml juice positively influences the increase in the HDL level with a bilateral significance of 0.025. The averages of atherogenic indices 𝐼𝐴𝐼, 𝐼𝐴𝐼𝐼, 𝐼𝐴𝐼𝐼𝐼 and 𝐼𝐴𝐼𝑉 after the ingestion of pomegranate juice were: for control group 2.13, 0.92, 1.13, 1.10 for the experimental group of 3 ml 2.18,.1.01, 1.18, 0.80 and for the experimental group of 6 ml 1.73,0.63, 0.73, 0.51 respectively. It was concluded that the intake of pomegranate juice significantly influences the increase of HDL high density lipoprotein levels as well as the reduction of atherogenic indices.
