The present research was carried out with the objective of identifying the relationship between family social climate and depression in adolescents of a parochial school in Villa María del Triunfo. The Family Social Climate Scale (FES) adapted by Cesar Ruiz Alva and Guerra (1993) and the Reynolds Depression Scale for Adolescents (EDAR) adapted by Ugarriza and Escurra (2002) were used for data collection in a random sample of 362 students from 12 to 17 years of age, of both sexes, belonging to the first, second, third, fourth and fifth grades of high school. It is a correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional and substantive research, with a descriptive correlational design. A highly significant and inverse relationship between family social climate and depression was obtained as a result. In addition, a highly significant and inverse relationship between the dimension of relationships and depression, with respect to the relationship between the dimension of development and depression, a significant inverse relationship was identified, finally, regarding the relationship between the dimension of stability and depression, it is shown that there is a highly significant and inverse relationship. It is concluded that an adequate family social climate decreases the presence of depression.
