Introduction: Presbyphony is a phenomenon that affects the qualities of the voice in elderly due to changes in laryngeal anatomy and age-acquired lesions. This negatively impacts their quality of life and emotional stability by limiting their ability to communicate. Vocal therapy is the ideal primary treatment to rehabilitate vocal function and must follow basic guidelines for its adequate and efficient management. Objective: Describe the theoretical-practical considerations for adequate vocal therapeutic management in an elderly patient in Metropolitan Lima in 2024. Description of the work: Phoniatric evaluation was performed on an adult patient over 72 years of age and acted according to considerations based on scientific evidence. First, vocal hygiene and hydration guidelines were prescribed. Subsequently, the therapy process began with a frequency of 2 times a week in 45-minute sessions, with the prescription of exercises to work in session and home. At the end of the 8-session period, a re-evaluation was carried out to verify evolution. Main Findings: The theoretical-practical considerations allowed adequate vocal therapeutic management, which allowed improvement in signs and symptoms with 4 weeks of treatment. Conclusions: Theoretical-practical considerations include interdisciplinary assessment, prescription of vocal hygiene guidelines, TVSO and intense speech exercises; in 45- minute sessions 2 to 3 times a week with constant reevaluation. They allow adequate vocal management of presbyphony, which has a direct impact on the quality of life of the elderly.
