Technological competencies and performance during virtual classes of the practitioners of the early childhood education program is an interesting topic, since during the Covid- 19 pandemic many students had to perform their pre-professional practices remotely, which proved to be a challenge. For this reason, the general objective was to analyze the technological competence and performance of the students of the initial education program during the pre-professional practices in the virtual modality of teaching. Likewise, a qualitative methodology was used, of the case study type and descriptive level. An interview guide was used as an instrument and a semi-structured interview was used as a technique. Also, the sample consisted of four university students who were studying pre-professional internships during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the main results showed that the initial education students demonstrated good technological performance in Learning at Home, overcoming initial challenges thanks to the platform's resources and additional preparation. Similarly, students used WhatsApp adequately for teaching during the pandemic, although some questioned its pedagogical effectiveness. Even so, they agreed that it supported the educational process. And, also the initial education students achieved adequate performance in Zoom, overcoming initial challenges and taking advantage of its tools for effective virtual teaching. The research concludes that the initial education students demonstrated adequate technological competencies in virtual teaching, overcoming initial challenges and adapting successfully, although they faced technological limitations among the infants.
