This thesis research "Comparison of the structural and economic behavior of lightened problems composed of clay bricks and polystyrene blocks" has as main objective to analyze from the point of view of the costs and the constructive process of the solutions of the structural systems with blocks of polystyrene and clay for slabs lightened in a multifamily unit. To develop the structural and economic comparisons in the lightened accounts, a structural design was made for both solutions, analysis and analysis of unit prices. Achieving the structural value of the multifamily building in order to determine if the expanded polystyrene blocks and clay bricks for the lightened slabs allow us to have a considerable saving. For our research, the architectural plans of a five-level multi-family reinforced concrete unit were used for structural design and were based on the provisions of the National Building Regulations. The impact that occurs in the sections of the structural elements that are used as a lightening element in the particles, expanded polystyrene blocks, the effect obtained in the analysis of unit prices and the saving of material is also verified, considering the decrease in structural components, in terms of concrete volume and amount of steel, in addition in the performance takes into account the placement of the lightening material and quantity. The traditional mezzanine system making correct use of expanded polystyrene blocks calculating in comparative tables the final costs of both structures.
