The purpose of this research is to carry out the Traffic Study for the Design of the flexible pavement of Prolongation Unión Avenue, District and Provincial de Trujillo. This avenue is of the utmost importance since it connects the América Oeste Avenue with Cahuide Avenue, and serves as an entrance to the district of El Porvenir, one of the most vibrant and populated in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad region. The road has a long of approximately 1.2 km, between America Avenue and Pesqueda Avenue and it has been observed that there is a significant deterioration, so it is necessary to decide on its maintenance or rehabilitation. Population growth, coupled with economic growth has led to growth in the Trujillo car park in some cases not expected, which has been deteriorating the roads. Also, in 2017 Trujillo experienced a weather phenomenon known as Niño Costero, which caused rainfall and water runoff that affected urban roads in general and in particular the Prolongation Unión Avenue, District and Provincial de Trujillo. The urban roads are part of the development of the localities of our country, with the improvement and rehabilitation of this road we will achieve the desired development of the inhabitants who will have better roads to move to the city center and work centers. The traffic study is an essential preliminary step to be able to design the flexible pavement later. The traffic study was carried out following the methodology recommended by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, with the count of the number of vehicles, in their different types, that pass during three days of the week. Based on these data, the current Annual Average Daily Vehicle Index was determined and projected at 10 years. As a result, it was determined that Prolongation Union Avenue currently supports 19,806 vehicles per day and to 2029, 25 249 vehicles per day are expected.
