In the present investigation we used the quantitative method, descriptive, transversal, correlational design; in order to determine the relationship between the time of breastfeeding and deforming oral habits in schoolchildren of the I.E.P. "Horacio Zevallos Gámez". The sample consisted of 170 children, who met the inclusion criteria. For data collection, the survey technique was used, which allowed to collect information from the mother about the time that fed the child with breastfeeding, and observation, which allowed to explore and describe the existence of disfiguring oral habits. , through a "Clinical Record". Both instruments obtained a validity of 84.04% and reliability of 86.4%. The results obtained were: of the 170 (100%) of the sample, 54.1% (92) received breastfeeding from 0 to 3 months of age, 37.1% (63) from 4 to 6 months and 8, 8% (15) in a time greater than 6 months; 58.8% (100) presented deforming oral habits and 41.2% (70) did not present. To determine the relationship between breastfeeding time and deforming buccal habits, the Chi - Square statistical test was used, with α = 0.05; which determined that there is a statistically significant relationship between both study variables, where X2 = 27,990; gl = 2; p = 0.000. The findings are presented as an alternative to be considered in the decision-making of MINSA, DIRESA-Loreto; to strengthen the preventive oral health promotion programs and therefore decrease the incidence of malocclusions at an early age.
