The techniques used were the interview and direct observation, and three instruments a questionnaire on level of knowledge on the use of condoms with one (100% validity and 92% reliability) and Lickert type perception scale with one (validity of 99.1% and 95% reliability) and a Condom Use Guide with 98.3% validity and 96.2% reliability. The data was analyzed with the SPSS version 22.0. The inferential statistical test was the Chi square, with α = 0.05 and confidence level of 95%. The results are the following: With respect to the level of knowledge 58.6% (116) presented adequate level of knowledge, 41.4% (82) qualified with inadequate knowledge, 100% (198) 91.4% presented a perception of rejection of the use of the condom, 58.6% (116) of the students make use of the condom and 41.4% (82), do not use a condom. According to the statistical analysis, we find a Chi-square value of X2 = 4.330, and a p = 0.037 that is lower than the value of α = 0.05 (5%) values that allow us to accept the hypothesis, that is, there is a statistically significant association between the level of knowledge and perception towards the use of the condom in students of the first level of 16 to 18 years of careers in pharmacy, medicine, dentistry of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon Iquitos.
