OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between study habits and academic performance in the students of the Dentistry School of the Universidad Nacional de la Amazonia Peruana - Iquitos 2016. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The type of research was quantitative; Non-experimental, transverse, correlational. The sample consisted of 134 students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional de la Amazonia Peruana. The instrument used was the CASM-85 study of habits of study, revised in 1988 and elaborated by Vicuña Peri (1985), which evaluates five dimensions: Form of study, Resolution of tasks, Preparation of exams, Form of listening to the class and Accompaniment to the study. For academic performance, the Annual Weighted Average was used. RESULTS: 47.8% of the students solve their tasks positively. 42.5% of students have positive trend study habits. 85.1% have regular Academic performance. In the bivariate analysis between the different dimensions of study habits and academic performance, statistically significant differences were found in all cases (p <0.05). 55.5% (10) of students with good academic performance have very positive study habits (p = 0.039). CONCLUSION: Study habits and academic performance of the students of the School of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional de la Amazonia Peruana Iquitos 2016 are significantly related.
