(es_PE)
OBJECTIVE: Determine the effectiveness of albendazole compared to mebendazole in nematodiasis in IST students "Queen of the Americas" - Iquitos, 2011. Materials and Methods: We performed a prospective, longitudinal, comparative, open randomized Higher Technological Educational Institution "Queen of the Americas" - (Iquitos, Peru), from February to April 2011. We evaluated 270 students of both sexes belonging to the Higher Technological Educational Institution "Queen of the Americas" with a diagnosis of Ascariasis and trichuriasis. Students between 18 and 25 years were selected if they showed Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura in the general examination of feces. Students were randomized into two groups, one treated with albendazole 400 mg single dose and one with mebendazole 600 mg daily in two divided doses, both for 3 days. Parasitological assessments were performed on days 1 and 14 after the last dose of the assigned treatment. All stool samples were processed at the Laboratory Institute of Technology "Queen of the Americas." Results: 45% (270/600) of students with positive diagnosis for Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura were aged between 18 and 25. The most common symptom was stomach pain (32%) in the albendazole group and metallic taste (34%) in group of mebendazole. In 13% of the group of group of albendazole and mebendazole group 3% of the parasites showed 1er dia postratamiento, was also observed reinfestation day 14 post-treatment 8 (30%) in the albendazole group and 3 (11%) in the mebendazole group. Coproparasitológica efficacy with albendazole was 97% and 52% with the mebendazole. Conclusion: We conclude that albendazole is more effective the drug mebendazole in the diagnosis of Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura in the IST students "Queen of the Americas" - Iquitos, 2011.
