The objective of this study was to explain the influence of affective strategies on oral communication in English in third grade high school students at public schools of San Juan Bautista district 2020. The research type was explanatory with field study, contemporary transectional, and univariable designs. The study population was made up by 2161 students and a stratified sample with proportional allocation of 105. The results show that the mean score for oral communication was 12.97, which is an achievement in progress, as well as in its dimensions: Getting information (15.83, expected accomplishment), inferencing and interpreting (16.64, expected accomplishment), use of non-verbal and paraverbal resources (9.78, beginner level), strategic interaction (10.39, beginner level). Results of the affective strategies variable show that the mean score was 66.74 on a transformed scale to 100. In conclusion, the results of the Spearman Rho nonparametric test show that there is no correlation between affective strategies and oral communication in English in the study population, as the correlation is negative (-,167) and p-value = 0.089 > α = 0.05, rejecting the working hypothesis.
