This research has the objective to determine physical, chemical, microbiological characteristics from the Maronacocha lagoon water, during the months of April, May and June of 2016. The outcomes were confronted to the values from the water quality standards, IV category: aquatic environment conservation, approved by the Peruvian government (ECAs). Throughout the results it was determined if the evaluated parameters agree or not the ECAs, accomplishing this way the investigation goals and accepting the hypothesis. It was found that some parameters such as TSS, pH, OD and thermotolerant coliforms did not meet the ECAs, on the other side, the rest of variables are into the range of ECAs’ values. The area of the study is located in Moronacocha lagoon, which is besides Iquitos city, in its west side. It has a longitude approx. of 8.7 km and a GIS area near the 62 ha. It is found in the Amazonian forest, formed over an ancient Nanay river meander, in the left margin of Amazon River. Following the National Authority of Water – Peru (ANA in Spanish) methodology for hydrologic resources monitoring, the study consisted in recollecting samples from Moronacocha in two specific points, the first of them located upstream the Iquitos city wastewater discharge, where is logical to think that there was not significant impact on water characteristics, and the second one, where it can be supposed that there was an impact on the quality of the resource. The analysis of the samples took place in two laboratories from the local university, known as UNAP, for its acronym in Spanish. Physical and chemical parameters were made in
