The objective was to determine the relationship between sociocultural factors and the level of knowledge about the human papillomavirus in students in the fifth grade of high school of the I.E.P.I.P.S. “Mariscal Oscar R Benavides”, Iquitos - 2019. The method used was quantitative, type of descriptive study, non-experimental design of correlational and transversal type. The population was constituted by 229 students and the sample by 144 students. The instrument was a questionnaire on Sociocultural Factors and the Level of Knowledge about the Human Papillomavirus, with a validity of 92.7% and 71.8% reliability. Regarding the age of the students; 45.2% of 17 years, 24.3% of 18 years, 21.5% of 16 years and 9.0% of 19 years; 52.1% belong to the female sex, 47.9% to the male sex; 68.8% came from the urban area and 31.2% from the peri-urban area; 81.3% professed the Catholic religion, 10.4% evangelical and 8.3% other religions; 74.3% obtained low knowledge, 22.2% medium knowledge and 3.5% high knowledge about the human papillomavirus. There is no significant relationship between the variables: age (p = 0.092), sex (p = 0.581), origin (p = 0.354) and religion (p = 0.122) with the level of knowledge about the human papillomavirus. The results obtained will allow the implementation of specific education programs for sexual health; that contribute to strengthening knowledge in the students of the fifth grade of high school of the I.E.P.I.P.S. "Marshal Oscar R Benavides", Iquitos - 2019.
