The postulates of international trade theories point out that the exchange rate and exports have a direct relationship; that is, when the exchange rate increases, exports should be increased, because a high exchange rate works as an incentive for the exporter to make larger shipments, since it will receive more soles per dollar. The objective of this research is to demonstrate the relationship between the exchange rate and exports from the Loreto region, during the period 2013 - 2017. For this, the present investigation of Correlational type and of Non-Experimental design was carried out, in which it is demonstrated that there is no relationship between the Exchange Rate and Exports when obtaining a Correlation Coefficient ( r ) that was of r = - 0.5994756767; very far from -1; it indicates that the Independent Variable (Exchange Rate) does not correlate with the Dependent Variable (Exports). In the same way, the Determination Coefficient ( R2 ) had a value of 0.371964006; very far from 1; which indicates that the Independent Variable (Exchange Rate) does not determine the behavior of the Dependent Variable (Exports); that is, they are shown as independent variables. The exchange rate considered in the present investigation is the Average Banking Exchange Rate, since all exports are banked. The exchange rate had a growing behavior in general terms, beginning in 2013 with a price of S /. 2.701901 per dollar, to end the year 2017 with S /. 3,260,488. Every year it showed an increase, except for the year 2017 when it contracted -3.39% with respect to the previous year. On the other hand, exports had a variable behavior, having grown the first two years of the series reaching the value of US $ 54,756,829.01 in 2014, the highest value of the years under study, with an increase of 45.79% in relation to the previous year. . As of 2015, the drop in export value was a constant until closing 2017 with US $ 22,332,385.65. The decrease in exports is explained by lower shipments of timber, due to the implementation of Law N ° 29763 - Forestry and Wildlife Law. And also because of the reduction in oil activity, caused by the fall in the international price of oil and the absence of exploration and exploitation work; as well as the legal instability in relation to not respecting concessions, such as that granted to Block 192, which was reverted to the State unilaterally.
