This research is of quantitative, non-experimental type and transverse type. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between dietary intake and nutritional status in patients with metabolic syndrome treated in external clinics of the Regional Hospital of Loreto and Hospital Apoyo Iquitos with the highest attention of the city during the months of January to April Of the year 2016. The sample was 274 patients identified with this syndrome, of which 31.4% were men, while 68.6% were women. The average age was 41.92 years. Regarding nutritional status, the following data were recorded: normal 10.6%, 25.9% overweight and 63.5% obesity. The highest food intake was energy (54.4%) high, carbohydrates (55.8%) high, protein, (71.2%) adequate, fat (67.5%) high. Given these results, we can say that, there is a relationship between dietary intake and nutritional status.
