The montane forests are part of the habitat of the primates, but there was no information on the number of species that inhabit and the current status for most of them. The lack of information was what motivated the conduct of the study and was oriented to determine the diversity and its abundance, as well as to identify the anthropic activities that constitute threats to its populations. From June 2014 to October 2018 were conducted censuses by linear transect in 24 sampling sites corresponding to the regions of Amazonas, La Libertad, San Martín, Huánuco, Ucayali and Pasco. Were registered 205 groups belonging to 11 species were registered; of them, 88 grouped into 10 species corresponded to the Huánuco forests; being Cebus yuracus and Lagothrix flavicauda the most sighted with 38 and 37 groups, respectively. Larger groups were observed in Ateles belzebuth, Ateles chamek and L. flavicauda and smaller in Aotus miconax and Alouatta seniculus. The relative abundance and population density was higher for A. belzebuth and the lowest for A. seniculus. Lagothrix flavicauda was the only species observed above 2600 m.a.s.l., the rest between 1000 to 2450 m. Deforestation for agriculture and livestock and hunting for subsistence purposes are the main threats to primates. In conclusion, the abundance of primates that inhabit montane forests is relatively low compared to the forests of the lower Amazon and is due to anthropic activities.
