The method used in the present study was the quantitative, descriptive, transversal, correlational design; whose purpose was to determine the relationship between knowledge, practice on healthy lunchbox in mothers and the nutritional status of schoolchildren of the Private Educational Institution San Francisco de Asis, Iquitos, 2017. The population was constituted by 194 primary school students, whose sample were 129 school For data collection, the survey technique was used, which allowed to apply the knowledge questionnaire on healthy lunch box, whose validity was 89% and reliability 73%; the observation, allowed to verify the practice on lunchbox registering in a checklist, it was valid 91% and reliability 72%; For the nutritional assessment of the school, anthropometric measurements (weight, height, BMI) were recorded in a format. The results obtained were: 100% of mothers of schoolchildren, 55.0% presented a medium level of knowledge about a healthy lunchbox; 72.1% improperly practiced healthy lunch boxes; and 80.6% schoolchildren presented normal nutritional status. To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about healthy lunch box and nutritional status, these results were submitted to the Chi - Square test, where X2 c = 4.330; gl = 4; p = 0.363 and α = 0.05; practices on healthy lunch boxes and nutritional status, we obtained an X2 c = 2.791; gl = 2; p = 0.248 and α = 0.05; both results determined that there is no significant relationship between these variables. These findings are presented as an alternative to strengthen the health strategy of the school and adolescent, promoting through participatory methodologies the practice of a healthy diet, motivating the mother to assume a proactive and committed role in the integral care of health and by improve their quality of life in the future of this age group.
