In order to determine the toxicity of the pesticide chlorpyrifos in its commercial formulation Tifon 4E® in juveniles of Pimelodus brochii, collected from the Itaya river during January and February 2019, three toxicity bioassays were carried out during 96 hours, in static system with replacement of the 50% water Three concentrations of Chlorpyrifos (0.005 mg / l, 0.010 mg / L and 0.015 mg / L) and a control (0 mg / L) were evaluated, with three repetitions; 10 juvenile specimens of Pimelodus blochii were placed in fish tanks with a capacity of 20 liters, making a total of 12 experimental units, distributed in a completely randomized design (DCA). Mortality was recorded at 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of exposure, external and internal alterations, the mean lethal concentration (LC50-96h) was determined by the Probit method and the concentration that does not cause effect (NOEC ) of the Chlorpyrifos. At the end of the study, LC50-96h was recorded as 0.008 mg / L (bioassay I and III), 0.007 mg / L (bioassay II); NOEC of 0.00008 mg (bioassay I and III) and 0.00007 mg / L (bioassay II). In addition, the following external alterations were recorded: increased mucus in skin, fins and gills; presence of petechiae in pectoral and ventral fins; detached lamellae and atrophied lamellae; no internal alternations could be observed in the juveniles of Pimelodus brochii.
