The white sand deposits on the outskirts of the city of Iquitos are a resource that contributes to the construction sector in this part of the Peruvian Amazon. The exploitation of this resource is very lucrative and is carried out with a strong impact on the varillales forests. In the last 20 years the extraction areas and the volume of white sand sold have been increasing. Given this, there is a lack of relevant and specific information on the limit of depletion of the white sand resource, this information would be very important to plan the territorial development of the city of Iquitos. The objective of this research is to estimate the white sand resource and its availability through remote sensing data, as well as the influence on the increase in built areas in the city of Iquitos, in the period 1999-2018. For which, models of average power height, extracted volume and probable resource were generated, with which the limit of depletion of the white sand resource was predicted and the relationship with the accumulated built areas of the city of Iquitos was measured. The relationship between the volume extracted from the white sand resource and the accumulated built areas inthe city of Iquitos is positive and very strong (r=0.9757 and p<0.0001), the limit of depletion of the white sand resource was calculated in 2043. The increase of the built area strongly influences the loss of the white sand resource.
