The objective was to determine the relationship between eating habits and nutritional status of patients with diabetes mellitus type II served in III EsSalud primary care centre. Punchana. 2014. the study was non-experimental, descriptive correlational. For the collection of data was used a questionnaire about dietary habits, a nutritional History tab to get the data (demographic, IMC, PAB, biochemical data). The results were: the 81.5% of the patients with Diabetes Mellitus type II served in the CAP III - Punchana has improper eating habits, and only 18.6% have proper eating habits. We found that half of the studied population showed overweight (50%). The 29.8% of the sample had obesity type 1 and 7.3% obese type 2. In terms of the PAB, the 49.2% had a very high PAB, the 37.1% a PAB high and only 13.7% a PAB. Of the analysis it was observed a value of significance of p = 0.000 < α = 0.05, it is concluded that the hypothesis is accepted, i.e., there is a statistically significant relationship between eating habits and nutritional status in these patients. Therefore it is suggested that, is strengthen the quality of care of programmes of prevention and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus, with this to achieve proper compliance with both metabolic control as of the nutritional status of the population, need a methodology of prevention as: educational sessions and preventive promotion of appropriate eating habits sessions.
