In this research, the study of lipid-lowering activity of watery extract using seeds of Phalaris canariensis known as Alpiste that belonging to the family Poaceae. The research was carried out in rats Albino Holtzmann, with weight average of 260 ± 10 gr of corporal weight. Settled down 4 experimental groups of 10 animals each one: Atorvastatin to dose 20mg/Kg/P.C. (positive control), it dilutes distilled (negative control) and aqueous extract of Phalaris canariensis “Alpiste” seeds to dose 100 and 200mg/Kg/P.C., wich were administered via oral during for 15 days. Then we proceeded to take the level control serics of cholesterol and triglycerides, at the end of the study the euthanasia was realized to all the animals by cervical dislocation. According to the obtained results, the watery extract of seeds of Phalaris canariesis “Alpiste” to dose of 100 and 200 mg/kg/P.C., decreased the levels serics of cholesterol and triglycerides, having been results statistically significant (p<0.05) of the lipidemic, compared with the basal hyperlipidemic. Having indexes of diminution of cholesterol in 20.3 % to dose of 100mg/kg/pc and 21.9 % to the dose of 200mg/kg/pc and of triglicéridos in 4.6 % to dose of 100mg/kg/pc and in 6.8 % to dose of 200mg/kg/pc, with regard to the positive control (Atorvastatine 20mg) that diminished in 52.9 % and 22.5 % respectively, showing the lipid-lowering activity of the watery extract of seeds of Phalaris canariensis "Alpiste", it is more effective with the cholesterol than with the triglicéridos. This way, the results express the indexes of the activity lipid-lowering of the watery extract of P. canariensis.
