This study was carried out in the arboretum "El Huayo" located at the Center for Forestry Research and Education (CIEFOR) Pto. Almendra, Iquitos, Peru. The objective was to determine the floristic composition, to establish the IVI of tree species and to analyze the variation of the vegetation microstructure of the Arboretum; the nearest neighbor methodology for field data collection was used in the sampling points of each plot, then data were analyzed by the Eberhardt index, reflecting the microstructure in two categories (random, regular or uniform). Results show that Lecythidadecea is the family with the highest importance of 46% and Eschweilera grandiflora is the species with the highest importance of 18%. Twelve subplots out of sixteen subplots show random microstructure (that is, trees are randomly distributed in the study area) and regular (distance between trees in the area is fairly constant) whereas four subplots show no microstructure.
