The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between salivary pH and gingival index in first trimester pregnant women attending the Primary Health Care Center (CAP-II) EsSalud in the district of San Juan 2017. The type of research is Quantitative, the design is Non-Experimental, Transverse, descriptive and correlational. The sample consisted of 78 pregnant women. The instruments used to identify the salivary pH were a tab for collecting salivary pH values using the potentiometer and for the gingival index was used the periodontal probe and record tab of the gingival index of Silness and loe. Among the most important findings were the following: Salivary pH not significantly related to the gingival index of first-trimester pregnant women attending the Primary Care Center (CAP-II) - EsSalud of the district of San Juan 2017. The mean value of the salivary pH of the pregnant women was 6.45 ± 0.93; considered as an acid salivary pH. The most predominant salivary pH was acid pH with 48.7%, followed by the basic salivary pH with 29.5%, whereas 21.8% had a neutral salivary pH. Regarding the gingival index of pregnant women, 29.3% had mild Gingival Inflammation, and 70.5% had Moderate Gingival Inflammation. The average Gingival Index of pregnant women was 1.15 ± 0.20, considered as a Moderate IHO.
