This research work was conducted in the city of San Lorenzo, which is located in the District of Barranca, Datem del Marañón Province, Loreto Department, Loreto Region. The evaluation was carried out with a participatory approach, through interviews with living people in the community. In the methodology that was used to execute the present study, the design aspects of the surveys were considered, as well as the structure and size of the sample used. In this phase, unstructured interviews were also considered, that is, open questions with multiple criteria and semi-structured questions. For purposes of the work, it was taken as a source of information to families settled in the capital of the district, to which the interviews and visits were made. obtaining the following results The per - capita household generation of the city of San Lorenzo is 0.590 kg / inhab. / day. The total generation of solid waste calculated for the city of San Lorenzo is 5.69 ton / day, 170 tons per month and 2050.3 tons per year. What most are generated in the homes of San Lorenzo are the waste that can be used specifically organic waste with a total of 58.1%, this includes: food remains such as: banana peels, cassava, masato bran, fruit residues , rice, cooked yucca, and others with a total of 33%. Followed by garden waste that is equivalent to 14% of the total waste collected. Data were obtained that recyclable waste accounts for 15.9% of the total waste, indicating that people dispose of metals 5.1%, plastics 4.4%, and paper 2.2%, which can be reused, thus decreasing the contamination by this waste. The density occupied by solid wastes of household origin is 744.48 kg / m3. The families of the selected homes have collaborated daily observing a 100% participation.
