The aim of this study was to determine the lumber variability of Virola sp. in two classes of low-hill forest: class I and class II, located in the Tacshacuraray river basin, Loreto, Peru. Field data were collected in the annual cut plot 6 of the forest concession Nr. 16-IQU/CJ- 124-04. The low-hill forest class I contains the highest number of individuals of Virola sp. totalizing 66 tree/ha, while the low-hill forest class II contains the lowest number with a total of 24 trees/ha. The highest volume per tree is found in the low-hill forest class I with 3,55m3/ha. Moreover, the total volume of the whole study area is 4,68 m3/ha. The low-hill forest Class II shows higher variability (18,1%) than the low-hill forest class I (15,34%). It is necessary to develop management plans in order to allow the enrichment of these forests with high commercial value forest species.
