INTRODUCTION: Appendicitis is the inflammation of the vermiform appendix, which, due to the lack of timely treatment, can complicate and evolve into an appendicular plastron in approximately 10% of cases. More than 8% of people in the world have appendicitis at some point in their lives OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical, diagnostic and appendiceal plastron treatment characteristics at the Regional Hospital of Loreto from January 2014 to June 2018 METHODOLOGY: • Type of research: descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional • Population: It was 1148 hospitalized patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis • Sample: patients with diagnosis of appendiceal plastron, in our study 101 patients met the inclusion criteria RESULTS: The incidence of appendiceal plastron in the Regional Hospital of Loreto was 8.79% with respect to patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis. 73% of patients with appendiceal plastron are under 48 years old, with the age group of 18 to 27 years being more frequent. It was shown that 55% of cases are male and 45% of cases are female. It was shown that almost half (43.6%) of the cases are cohabiting, 35.6% are single, 18.8% are married and we saw one case in widowed and one case in divorced where both represent 2%. Regarding the level of education, more than half of the patients (52.5%) attended secondary school, 28.7% attended primary school, 7.9% studied technical higher education as well as higher education, 2% were illiterate and only one case was seen. Initial study that equals 1%. Regarding employment, 32.7% are housewives, 15.8% are students, 12.9% are self-employed, 10.9% are workers, 9.9% are farmers and 5% of the cases were in students. Regarding provenance, it was shown that 69.3% of patients come from urban areas of the city of Iquitos and 30.7% come from rural areas. Regarding the presence of palpable mass, 100% of the cases presented it. It was demonstrated that more than half (57.4%) of patients presented at least 2 symptoms, 28.4% presented only abdominal pain and 13.9% presented all the symptoms. On the presence of leukocytosis it was found that 63.4% of patients presented leukocytosis and in 36.6% of cases there was evidence of absence of leukocytosis. Regarding prehospital medication, it was found that 59.4% of the cases received medication before admission to the institution and 40.6% did not receive it. About the medical management, antibiotics, analgesics and gastric protectors were used in 100% of the patients. In addition, it is described that the most used antibiotic scheme was CIPROFLOXACIN + METRONIDAZOLE. It was found that 4% of the cases did not receive surgical treatment and 96% received it, of these 51.5% underwent appendectomy + drainage, 25.7% cavity wash + drainage, and 18.8% only appendectomy. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of appendiceal plastron in the Regional Hospital of Loreto was 8.79% with respect to patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis. The appendicular plastron in the Regional Hospital of Loreto occurs more frequently in males between the second and third decade from urban areas. It is concluded that the appendicular plastron was more frequent in cohabitants and in people who finished secondary school. It was concluded that the occupation that most prevailed in our study was that of housewives with 32.7%. 100% of patients presented palpable mass. In our study it was concluded that of the total of patients with appendiceal plastron, 63.4% had leukocytosis. It is concluded that in 100% of cases of appendicular plastron antibiotics, analgesics and gastric protectors were used. The most used antibiotic scheme in patients with appendicular plastron was CIPROFLOXACIN + METRONIDAZOLE (46.5%), followed by CEFRTRIAXONE + METRONIDAZOLE (42.6%) and IN 10.9% CIPROFLOXACIN + CLINDAMYCIN was used. It is concluded that 4% of patients with appendicular plastron did not receive surgical treatment, 96% if they received surgical treatment, of them, 51.5% underwent APENDICECTOMY + DRAINAGE, to 25.7% CAVITY WASH + DRAINAGE, to 18.8% he was practiced only APENDICECTOMY and no patient was subjected to PERCUTANEOUS DRAINAGE.
