In recent years, a high degree of competitiveness was seen among lodging establishments, which concentrated their efforts on obtaining the most qualified human talent and thus training them according to their own standards. This is the case of Novotel Cusco. In this way, a new training method called skills training arises, which fundamental objective is to improve the performance of employees in a more precise way to provide solutions to the needs of the company. The main objective of this study is to describe the training by core competencies applied to the operational human talent of Novotel Cusco. Regarding the methodology, the research has a descriptive scope, a non-experimental design and surveys were carried out among the entire operational human talent of Novotel Cusco. The study concludes that the training by core competencies applied to the operational human talent of Novotel Cusco is appropriate, since 53.8% of the respondents consider that this is very good and 34.6% consider it good, on the other hand, there is 11.5% of the collaborators who consider it regular, this result represents a deviation that must be corrected.
