The purpose of this research was to determine the variation in the dimensions of the alveolar ridge between dentate and edentulous areas in CT scans of patients of the stomatological clinic of the Andean University of Cusco - 2018. METHODOLOGY.-The present investigation was of the type the present study, is of transversal type, retrospective observational and descriptive, nonexperimental design, the sample was 132 tomographies taken in the Stomatological Clinic Luis Vallejo Santoni. The techniques used were: the observational and analysis technique through the use of IRYS VIEWER software. A data collection sheet was also used, said instrument validated by the Expert Judgment. The edentulous space and its contralateral dentate were evaluated, four zones, upper molars, lower molars, upper premolars and lower premolars were analyzed, evaluating the decrease of the alveolar ridge at four points: coronal thickness, middle and apical thickness. RESULTS - The edentulous areas analyzed showed a reduction in the dimensions of the alveolar ridge compared to the dentate areas, as for the lower premolars in apical thickness, they presented a bone increase. CONCLUSIONS - The variation of the dentate zones versus the edentulous zones showed a reduction in height and thickness except in the case of the lower premolars, an apical level increase of -0.31 mm equivalent to 3% was observed. XIII The variation in height was statistically significant in three dental zones, the upper molars where there is a greater decrease in average of 1.62 mm equivalent to 16%. The decrease in coronal thickness was significant in all edentulous areas evaluated where the greatest variation was in the upper and premolar molars. The upper molars show a greater decrease compared to the other dental groups at the average and apical thickness level with 31% and 20% respectively
