Research It aims to: Identify personal and clinical characteristics of children under 5 suffer iron deficiency anemia, the study design was descriptive and retrospective, with a sample of 93 children. The technique used was the observation and the instrument was a form of documentary observation. RESULTS: 61% of children are 1 to 2 years, 51% male and 49% female, 59% are five or more children, and 10% they are between first and second child. 20% are from the community of Upis, 72% are premature, 81% were exclusively breastfed, 14% take cow's milk and 5% of the children received milk jar, 52% of normal weight, 36% are malnourished, and 12% underweight. 48% normal size and 52% have short stature. 38% had one once the EDAs, 59% had only once IRAs, 45% have mild anemia, 46% moderate anemia and 9% had severe anemia, 34% had little appetite and 17% pale skin, 43% were treated for 12 months and 13% received treatment for less than 6 months, 40% were treated multimicronutrient, 22% only ferrous sulfate and 13% of the revised medical records treatment is not recorded, 43% compliers while 13 % does not record the treatment, 20% had constipation and diarrhea, 43% received their 3rd control treatment and 26% only the 1st control was performed, 45% received counseling complementary measures consumption sangrecita and red visor, while 14% clinical revised historical record is not observed.
