The study entitled "Maternal and perinatal characteristics associated with the disability of the students of the San Jerónimo Special Basic Educational Center, Cusco-2023", aimed to determine the association of maternal and perinatal characteristics with the disability of the students of the Special Basic Educational Center in San Jeronimo. The research was descriptive, correlational and exploratory; with a sample population of 105 mothers; the survey technique was used and the instrument was a questionnaire. The results show that 48.6% of students have intellectual disabilities, 16.2% visual disabilities, 11.4% have motor disabilities and 6.7% have mental disabilities; 62.9% of the students were born vaginally; 27.6% experienced perinatal asphyxia, 38.1% had a gestational age of 39-41 weeks; 67.6% were male; 32.4% were born with low birth weight, 10,5% had jaundice, 51.5% initiated breastfeeding after 5 hours, 81% received mixed breastfeeding, 80% were born in a hospital. Regarding mothers; 44.8% had three or more children, 48.6% three or more pregnancies; 1% consumed alcohol, 15.2% took medication, 10,5% had a history of abortion; 35.2% had urinary tract infection, 21.9% had a history of family congenital malformation and 55.2% were between 25-34 years old at the time of delivery. The associated characteristics were: Having more than three children and pregnancies (p=0.000), medication consumption (p=0.019), obstetric complications (p=0.020), presence of urinary tract infections (p=0.001), type and complications of childbirth (p=0.003), gestational age (p=0.001) and low birth weight (p=0.000), all with a significance level of p<0.05.
