The International Caries Detection and Assesment System (ICDAS II) is a standardized system based in the best test that conduce to improve the quality of information based in suitable diagnosis, pronostic and treatment of tooth decay for individual and public health. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the tooth decay valuation with World Health Organization (WHO) index and ICDAS II in patients aged 6 to 11 years of IE n°1229-50905 Puscarpampa-San Jerónimo. Cusco 2017. Materials and methods: The sample consisted of 100 children aged 6 to 11 years according to the inclusion and exclusión criterias of the I.E. N ° 122550905 Puscarpampa-.Cusco. The patients were examined according to World Health Organization (WHO) index criteria and ICDAS II criteria. Results: Compared the valuation of tooth decay in the sample, there gives us an average of tooth decay of 6.86 with the World Health Organization (WHO) index and an average of tooth decay of 10.59 for ICDAS II. Conclusions: There is a difference of averages of -3.370 with a value of p=0.000, being significant. The very significant difference between the indexes shows that ICDAS II has a better value of diagnosis of tooth decay.The ICDAS II is a useful, new and easy index to be applied for a good valuation and evaluation of tooth decay.
