The study and analysis of new cementation properties with new biopolymer binders in soils are essential for their potential application in engineering. The present research study focuses on knowing the significant results of the cementation effect of a modern zein biopolymer binder, on the plasticity index, specific weight and bearing capacity of the clay soil of the district of Qoya, Urubamba, Cusco. The clay soil samples taken by the extraction of an exploration pit in the Qoya district are mixed with various contents of zein biopolymer that vary from 0 to 5%. The physical and mechanical properties and bearing capacity of the treated samples are evaluated by simple compression, liquid limit, plastic limit, modified Proctor, cohesion and density tests, respectively, after curing for 15 days. The results show a constant increase in the bearing capacity and elastic modulus of the treated soils, with a 27.3% increase in their natural resistance thanks to the zein. Now, for a dose greater than 5% of zein the improvement effect disappears, so we can indicate that the óptimal dose is around 2.5% if we wish to improve the bearing capacity of the clay soil. Therefore, the results indicate that the application of zein biopolymer can potentially be used as a binder for clay soils in civil engineering, considering its stabilization and sustainability properties. Furthermore, the bonding strength between the soil-zein biopolymer increases linearly with the uniformity of the soil.
