Oral congenital abnormalities are also called oral birth defects which have unknown causes, even though there are factors that could be associated to these defects. With this study I wants to demonstrate whether there is any association between congenital oral alterations in newborn children at Hospital Antonio Lorena – Cusco, with factors such as; weight, gender, gestational age of the children and medical history, harmful habits and origin of the mother which may affect its appearance. The type of research of this work is at a Descriptive-observational and correlational level, having as a design a qualitative range, scope and field of documentary, transversal and prospective temporality. This study required a sample of 237 newborn children in the months of April, May and June 2015 who met the inclusion criteria, using as an instrument a data collection form and the results of medical records. This way it was possible to find an association between oral congenital abnormalities and some risk factors such as the mother's.
