The present research work is realized for understand and verify the correlation between the variable reading metacomprehension and academic performance in the incoming students to the professional school of accountant of the Technologic University of the Andes, Andahuaylas 2019 – I, the problem exist in the professional superiors studies context, understanding to the incoming students, when starts their university studies ignoring the effect of the reading metacomprehension in the academic performance. The use of the reading metacomprehension influences in the califications; the methodology of the present research is of correlational court, use the quantitative focus and represent a research with a non-experimental desing. The population of work was of 36 incoming students to the professional school of accountant of the Technologic University of the Andes, Andahuaylas 2019-I, bur the absence and quitting of the academic semester of two students we work with the regular assistants making a work sample of 34 students using the sampling non probabilistic and intentional in criterion of the researcher; the used instrument was the reading metacomprehention inventory by Maribeth Schmitt and the documental recompilation of the ratings obtained to the end of the academic semester, information obtained by the administrative area of academic services of the Technologic University of the Andes Andahuaylas, the data recompilation was using the mentioned questionnaire and analyzed and processed with the statistics software SPSS in the 25 version. With the research we can demonstrate do exist correlation direct between the variable reading metacomprehention and academic performance, with a trust level of 95% and a significance level o mistake risk of 5% (p<0,05) and a medium intensity of correlation by tau B of Kendall of 0.685.
